Nibbles Grill

4618 S. Main Street
Acworth, GA 30101

770.585.9044

Nibbles Grill is located in Acworth on Main Street next to the Acworth Florist and across the street from Ferguson Chiropractic.  Look for the brightly colored umbrellas and you will be sure not to miss it.

Nibbles is one of those places that you may not venture into unless someone takes you there or someone you trust tells you to go there.  But, if you do not eat here at least once you are missing out on a unique lunch experience.

Everything is simple at Nibbles.  While there are choices on the menu the most likely pick is either the daily special or combo.  I ordered the Friday combo which was appropriately called the Double Bypass.  For $5.00 it included a double cheeseburger, fries or onion rings, and a drink.  Al cooks it and let’s you know when it is done so you can come add whatever fixins you want.  Oh, and pick up your fries or onion rings as well.  Al is not there to be wait on your every need!

If you think that $5.00 is an awesome price for lunch then you will love the daily special even more.  For $1.25 you can pick up whatever the daily special is.  On Friday it is a chili dog.  You literally walk up to a stack of foil-wrapped chili dogs, take what you want, and put your money on the counter.  (There is enough cash and change lying there to make your own change if you need it.)  Beware though… if you ask “what is it?” you will be charged $1.50!!  The special changes every day but is always $1.25.  You can seriously eat lunch for $2.50 if you get the daily special, a side of fries or onion rings, and a water.

I strongly urge you to give Nibbles a try.  I will be going back for sure.  One word of warning though… Al only takes cash so don’t show up with you fancy schmancy credit card and expect to pay him.

Friday Firsts

Big City Deli

3061 Jim Owens Road
Kennesaw, GA 30152

770.975.9237

Big City Deli is located on the west side of Highway 41/Cobb Parkway across from Aldi, just north of the new Oyster Cafe.  The bright yellow building makes it hard to miss if you are looking for it.

The menu here has a little bit of everything: burgers, hot dogs, turkey legs, and hot wings; but it is the sandwiches that you should come for.  I had a grilled bologna sandwich, chips, and water for $6.65.

The sandwich was awesome and when they say the bologna is “thick cut” they mean it.  The chips are made on-site and seasoned well.  A word of warning though, you will not leave hungry.  Save a little bit on lunch and split a side of chips or fries between 2 or 3 people.

My $6.65 was the cheapest lunch out of the group I went with.  We all agreed that in order to attract a better lunch crowd the owner needs to create a lunch menu with combos that include a half sandwich, half order of fries/chips, and a fountain drink for the $6 to $7 range.  Expect to pay $8+dollars for most of the other sandwiches on the menu (not including a side or drink).

Overall the food was excellent, the place was nice, the staff were friendly, and they were displaying a 100% health department score (bonus).  Next time I am in the mood for a sandwich I will be going back.  Hopefully there will be some lunch combos by then though.

McAfee Family Protection

June 3rd, 2009 by Shane Kenny | 4 Comments | Filed in Work

It is finally here!  After nearly 8 months of work, McAfee Family Protection went live at about 10:30pm (EST) yesterday night.  The official press release went out this morning at 8:00am (EST).  The first question that should be on your mind is why I am I so excited about not only a competitive product but a competitive product from one of the “big guys”?  The answer is simple… McAfee Family Protection is developed by, powered by, and managed by InternetSafety.com.  For all intents and purposes it is the InternetSafety.com technology being used under another name.

I would be remiss if I did not say thanks to all the people at InternetSafety.com that put countless hours into making this happen.  Everyone from the CEO down to the customer service team had some part in getting this product to market.  The real heavy lifting fell to our R&D team and the guys there did an awesome job working with McAfee’s product team to get the product ready.  So, today we celebrate.  Tomorrow?  Tomorrow, we get back to work!

BetStopper

June 1st, 2009 by Shane Kenny | No Comments | Filed in Work

This week I get to finally talk about a couple of projects that we have been working hard on at InternetSafety.com for the last several months.  The first is a project called BetStopper that has been developed through an agreement with the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation.

BetStopper is the only product that I am aware of that has the laser-focus of preventing underage youth from gambling online.  It is being given away free-of-charge to residents of Nova Scotia as part of the province’s social responsibility in gaming initiative.  If you live in Nova Scotia, and are interested in this product, you can learn more at www.betstopper.ca.

BetStopper is another example of the award winning technology that powers Safe Eyes being re-used in a unique, and interesting way.
