Phil Gingrey for President
March 27th, 2009 by Shane Kenny | Filed under Politics.I just received an email response to an email I send my congressman, Phil Gingrey, in regard to the whole AIG bonus fiasco. Here is a snippet:
The only way to prevent this misuse of taxpayer dollars from ever happening again is to take the federal government out of the business of propping up private companies - choosing which will succeed and which will fail. I have cosponsored H. Res. 199 - which calls for a moratorium on these massive, taxpayer-funded bailouts. Real economic recovery cannot begin until we return to rewarding hard work, demanding responsibility for mistakes, and letting the free market work. If we truly want to encourage economic growth and job creation, then we must reduce the tax burden on hardworking American families, small business owners, and retirees.
Finally, a Republican that has it straight in his head that the federal government needs to stay out of private business and has the guts to say it.
Yeah, I’ve been really impressed by Gingrey. He had the guts to stand up against Bush for Bailout #1 - back before it was popular to be against bailouts.
I plan on being very active in Paulding with his next reelection campaign.
(And, for what it’s worth, Ron Paul has been saying this all along.)
