Half Marathon? Check.

January 17th, 2009 by Shane Kenny | 3 Comments | Filed in Running

Today I got to put half a line through something on my Bucket List… Run a Marathon.  Hopefully on March 29th I will put a line through the rest of the item, but for now I am satisfied with the half line.  JR, Todd, and I set up on a 13.1 mile training run this morning at 8:00.  It was about 15 degrees and very cold for us Georgia people.  (As evidenced by the picture of the icicle hanging from my hat at the end of the run.)  We all completed it and can proudly claim that we are crazy enough to have run a half marathon.

On The Road Again

I figured out the other day that in 2009 I have spent 5 nights sleeping at my house and 9 nights (counting tonight) sleeping in hotels.  Hopefully this trend will not continue all year because I don’t want my bed to miss me too much.  I am about to leave the office for an overnight trip this time.  I am not comlaining though.  This week, one of the businesses near our office filed for bankruptcy.  On the other hand we have so many things going on right now it is hard to tell which way is up sometimes.  The travel is hard on the marathon training though.  It may be after 10:00 tonight before I am able to get in the 6 mile run that I am supposed to run today.  I am hoping that my knee will be back to normal and not bother me again.  I plan to stay away from treadmills for the time being.

Safe Eyes Mobile

It is finally here… the first Internet filter for the iPhone!  I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am about this announcement that my company (InternetSafety.com) is making at MacWorld today.  Seeing this product develop from a concept on a whiteboard to an actual usable product has been difficult for me to stay quiet about.

It is not every day that you get to part of something this new and this exciting. I have been especially fortunate, over the past several years, to be part of the #1 Internet filter for the PC and Mac — Safe Eyes, the first Internet filter for the iPhone — Safe Eyes Mobile, and a small business Internet filter appliance — EtherShield.

Safe Eyes Mobile will be available for the iPhone and iPod Touch from the appstore as soon as Apple completes the approval process (it has been nearly 5 weeks since we submitted it for review).  It is a fully-featured browser replacement for Safari with the InternetSafety.com filtering technology baked right into it.

We will be demoing Safe Eyes Mobile this Thursday through Sunday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.  We are in the Sands Convention Center booth #72902.  Stop by and take a look.  I will try and contain my excitement!

Still Alive & Still Running

Three weeks of straight travel makes it hard to keep up with the blog.  However, I have continued the marathon training (except for taking a week off from the shorter runs because my left knee was bothering me).  The great thing is that I have gotten to run in some awesome locations recently.  Here are a few courtesy of Google Earth:

“The Tan”
A 2.35 mile loop around the Victoria Botanical Gardens in Melbourne, Australia

Australia Beach Run
10 miles from my hotel and back along the beach in Melbourne, Australia

Las Vegas Strip
3 miles of people dodging!

I have also updated the marathon training to reflect where I am in my progress. The good news today though is that the knee did not bother me on a 3 mile run.
