Half Marathon? Check.

January 17th, 2009 by Shane Kenny | Filed under Running.

Today I got to put half a line through something on my Bucket List… Run a Marathon.  Hopefully on March 29th I will put a line through the rest of the item, but for now I am satisfied with the half line.  JR, Todd, and I set up on a 13.1 mile training run this morning at 8:00.  It was about 15 degrees and very cold for us Georgia people.  (As evidenced by the picture of the icicle hanging from my hat at the end of the run.)  We all completed it and can proudly claim that we are crazy enough to have run a half marathon.

you didnt notice an icicle hanging on you?

not so good news for my training
    i did 7 last week
this week at mile 6 (goal was 9) knee started throbbing
had been giving me minor pain all week
met with a friend who is a physical therapist this morning
she gave me some exercises to do and a strap to buy to hopefully get me back up to speed quickly

think i prob need to slow down my pace - going to do the strength training stuff this week - then do the

I didn’t notice that one. There was one on the other side that I noticed and removed at about mile 12 or so. I have had some on-and-off knee problems that last few weeks as well. I have found that not starting the run as fast has helped. Now I start with a 10 minute (or so) mile and then increase from there.
