Public Apology

January 31st, 2009 by Shane Kenny | No Comments | Filed in Running

I forgot to charge my GPS running watch last night before the 15 mile long run with JR and Todd this morning.  At mile 5 it ran out of juice and shut off leaving us to use the sign posts on the side of the Silver Comet Trail to judge the distance.  I am not sure what went wrong but we ended you running 15.7 miles and then stopping 1.3 miles from our car for a total of 17 miles.  Sorry guys!!  I guess next week’s 15 mile run will seem shorter to us.

Safe Eyes Mobile Approved

January 30th, 2009 by Shane Kenny | No Comments | Filed in Work

last night while Aaron and I were at dinner with some friends we received notification from Apple that Safe Eyes Mobile had been approved and added to the appstore.  It took 2 months and 3 days for the approval but we got it.  The interest in this product has been amazing so far so it great to be at a point where people can actually begin to use it.  If you are looking for an Internet filter to protect your kids’ Internet access on their iPhone or iPod Touch then Safe Eyes Mobile is what you need.  Head over to www.internetsafety.com and check it out.

Happy Birthday Freedom Church

January 26th, 2009 by Shane Kenny | No Comments | Filed in Church

Yesterday Freedom Church turned 1 year old.  My famliy has been going to Freedom for about 10 of those months.  It has been great to work with a production team each week and get to know a group of dedicated people that have a singular focus… “That those that are far from God can experience life in Christ”.  It is this statement that drives us to produce the best freakin’ worship experience possible each week.  It is this statement that has 25+ people show up at 7:00 every Sunday morning to setup our church inside Barber Middle School, and then stay 2 hours after everyone else to load everything back into Kenny (our truck).  It is this statement that lets me overlook how loud the music is or some of the crazy stuff our Pastor says.  It is this statement that has resulted in over 85 people in our community accepting Christ in the last year!  If you live within reasonable driving distance of Acworth, Georgia and have a friend, relative, or enemy that needs Christ you need to bring them to Freedom Church.

Marathon Training Week 9 - Half Way

January 24th, 2009 by Shane Kenny | No Comments | Filed in Running

It is hard to believe that I have reached the half way point in the marathon training schedule.  Today was 10 miles and it was not too bad.  JR and I finished it in just under 1:35 which is a 9:30 average mile pace.  I am pleased with that over a 10 mile run.  From looking at the training schedule it looks like it gets harder from here.  I am not sure if it good news or not, but I am starting to look at what lies beyond the marathon at the end of March.

My President

January 21st, 2009 by Shane Kenny | No Comments | Filed in Misc

I didn’t vote for him and I may not agree with him on several issues but as the President of the United State he is now My President.  Those words are not hard to say (or type in this case) because the beauty of our democratic system is that the people vote in the leader.  This means that sometimes the person you want to win does not and you have to live with that result because the people have spoken.

Overall I think we needed some change in Washington an I hope that Obama can make that happen.  He has a lot of problems to deal with right away and I do not envy his position right now.  The next 100 days or so will really show us how the next 4 years are going to go.

For the record, there are several things that I criticize Bush for over the past 8 years as well.  So even if the guy I voted for had gotten into office there is a good chance I would have had problems with his policy as well.
